In the fast-moving world of property management technology, strong leadership often comes down to one thing: making complicated systems work better for people. That’s exactly what Emily Crouch, Vice President of Systems & Technology at AKAM, has built her reputation on.

Recently featured as one of NYREJ’s 2026 Ones to Watch – Industry Leaders, Crouch was recognized for her ability to combine technical expertise with practical problem-solving and collaborative leadership.

One of her most impressive accomplishments was leading a large-scale Yardi software conversion across AKAM’s New York portfolio — a project that impacted more than 59,000 residential units and 360 buildings. Midway through the rollout, external consultants unexpectedly exited the project, leaving a major operational challenge behind. Rather than allowing the transition to stall, Crouch stepped in and took ownership of the implementation herself.

Under her leadership, the conversion was successfully completed while also improving workflows, increasing data accuracy, and creating stronger operational efficiency across the organization.

What stands out most about Crouch’s approach is her focus on usability. She believes the biggest challenge in systems design is creating tools that actually support day-to-day operations in the real world. Her strategy is rooted in listening to users, gathering feedback, and continuously refining systems over time instead of treating implementation as a one-time event.

“Emily is known for bringing clarity, structure, and positive energy to complex systems and operations. She translates complexity into practical solutions, builds strong relationships, helps teams stay organized, and encourages new ways of thinking. Her ability to connect with people and drive thoughtful, lasting improvements has helped strengthen AKAM’s operational foundation.” — AKAM Colleague

Regarding the mindset that drives her leadership style, Crouch weighs in with the following:

“I bring positive energy, appreciation, and always approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset. I’ve learned to treat solutions as ongoing work, staying close to the teams that use them, listening iterating, and improving and refining in real-time. That approach leads to stronger adoption, better outcomes and more consistent results across teams.”

Emily’s story is a reminder that successful technology leadership is not just about systems — it’s about adaptability, resilience, and creating solutions that genuinely improve how people work.

Join us in congratulating Emily on this exciting recognition!
